Wednesday Night Church
I love Wednesday night church at Highland! It is a time of wonderful singing, faithful prayers and just a balm for the mid-week emotions! Some people might say that Highland's auditorium is old and dark and outdated. But, it quiets me...calms me...focuses me on the reason for my being there. This morning, as I read about the thousands dying in Haiti from flooding and the men and women dying in Iraq, I am so sad for their families. But, again it reminds me how deeply I am blessed to be able to go to church on Wednesday night in the comfort of that older auditorium and sing with faithful Christians all around me and then approach the God of comfort on behalf of those who will not have that experience in Haiti or Iraq or other places around the world.
"Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. Cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ-the Message-have control. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives-words, actions, whatever-be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way. Colossians 3:15-17 (the Message)
